2004-06-21 - 10:23 a.m. I had a long, long weekend. For all the bitching I did a few weeks ago about not having enough friends that want to go out, I made up for it this weekend. One of my friends from college was visiting a law school out here, so we had lunch together. She wanted to go to Applebee’s, and I was like…word, I can get one of the WW meals there and stay on plan. Did I? Ha ha, no. She wanted one of those sampler appetizers from hell, and I folded like a stack of cards. Buffalo wings are the devil. I let her eat most of the food, but I still had some. Then I’m thinking…oh well, fuck it, I’ve done my exercise, we can indulge a little now and then. However, I ended up eating out again with another friend of mine. This time not at Applebee’s, so definitely not anything resembling a weight watchers dinner. Then I had drinks both Friday and Saturday night. Luckily I jogged and played basketball pretty much all day yesterday, so the scale didn’t karate chop me this morning, as it’s prone to do. It didn’t go down, though. I’m just happy it didn’t really go up, so I’m not complaining at all. Damn restaurants and their delicious fattening cocktails. So I’m off to Chicago this weekend. I really can’t wait. The only thing that sucks is the flying thing. I hate planes. They seem to ration oxygen and they smell like plastic and baby puke. Not to mention you always get that asshole who feels the need to stretch out over into your seat. As if there’s so much space to share. I think in terms of eating, I’m going to enjoy myself, but definitely not eat burgers and fries at every restaurant. I don’t mind if I don’t lose weight, but I don’t want to gain. Especially with all the walking and shit we’re going to be doing. ****Dodgeball Spoilers**** I watched Dodgeball on Friday. The movie was okay, but that scene in the beginning with Lori Beth Denberg really pissed me off. One of the characters is recounting his humiliation at last year’s cheerleading tryouts. He’s flashing back, and you seem him go up, ready to try out. One of the male cheerleaders who hates him assigns him a partner, and it’s Lori Beth Denberg. She’s the fat chick who used to be on The Steve Harvey show and Nickelodeon’s All That. Anyway, all you need to know is she’s fat. Naturally, when he realizes who his partner is, he looks all terrified and disgusted. She runs over to him wearing poon poon shorts and a tank top, with fat exposed everywhere. First gripe. No fat girl in her right mind in high school would ever, EVER wear that. Never. It’s in section 12 of the fat commandments. So they have to do this lift…and she runs at him, he lifts her, grunting and sweating. He’s holding her up, and he starts wobbling, and she crushes him into the ground. He’s grabbing at her fat, trying to roll her off of him, gasping, etc. Finally he does and it makes this weird, fatty suction cup sound. Everyone in the theater is cracking up at this point. I fail to see how that shit is even remotely funny. It’s like, fine, a fat joke now and then…but at least make it funny and not just outright lame and insulting. Also, how in the fuck did Lori Beth Denberg play that scene out without crying or killing herself or something? I don’t think I could have done it. That’s in the whole circle of the Chris Farley stuff. Where he’s constantly cracking on himself, rooting more and more self-hatred and depression until he basically kills himself. People are such assholes. |
